Entre os dias 13 e 18 de novembro, o docente do IPAM Lisboa, William Afonso, estará em Varsóvia na MSKPU - International School of Costume and Fashion Design, como palestrante no evento RFA - Responsible Fashion Awards, com a comunicação intitulada “Trends and Sustainability". O docente está também envolvido na organização do evento e na gestão dos membros do júri internacional.

From November 13th to 18th, IPAM Lisboa professor William Afonso will be at Warsaw in the MSKPU - International School of Costume and Fashion Design, as a speaker at the RFA - Responsible Fashion Awards event, with the communication entitled “Trends and Sustainability". The teacher is also involved in organizing the event and managing the members of the international jury.

In the field of Cultural Studies, understanding the complexities of mindsets and cultural landscapes is essential for crafting innovative solutions that resonate deeply within society. My academic and professional experiences in Trend Studies, Cultural Studies, and Design provide me with a nuanced framework to interrogate and shape the evolving paradigms of sociocultural innovation and strategic cultural analysis, as well as to engage with arts and visual culture critically. My design approach is inherently adaptive, embracing a continuous process of mapping cultural mindsets and behavioural patterns to inform and inspire new projects. This methodological framework, rooted in cultural reflexivity, follows a structured progression: a) defining the brief in its cultural context, b) engaging in coolhunting to uncover emergent patterns, c) interpreting data with a focus on cultural resonance, d) modelling outcomes that reflect socio-cultural dynamics, and e) developing projects that both respond to and provoke cultural dialogues.
